I was blessed that Jeremy was able to cook dinner for me tonight.
He used our wok for the first time.
It was a gift from a dear friend who we miss terribly.
The food was DELICIOUS!!

The Parent Trap

Growing up, The Parent Trap was my all time favorite movie.
We watched the original one every year on my birthday.
I was surprised to find today that the original was made in 1961!
And the original almost-evil-step-mother plays the mother of the almost-evil-step-mother in the new one. :)
I like the newer one just as much as the old one.

Today it took me three times as long to come home.
Above, you can see why.
The power was out, probably within a three mile radius of our house,
and the stoplights couldn't even blink.
Traffic bordered on chaos.

I was going to put a picture about the trainings I attended today.

Monday August 17th

Today is my brithday.
It was also my first day back at work.
I didn't really expect anything special, but I am loved!
My partner teacher brought me a cookie cake,
my husband left the sweetest card for me waiting on the table,
and my best friend sent me flowers from Alabama!

In Bible class we are studying the role of women in the church.
This is a difficult and emotional subject for me.
I have always felt confined by my "woman box."
Is freedom available even for me?

A Food Town grocery store just opened down the street from us.
This big egg carton advertised the cheap price for eggs.

Trip to the Panhandle

I had too much fun in the car taking pictures so I couldn't pick just one.

Here is part of the route we took.
83 straight north out of Abilene.

We had the bright idea to get a book on tape to keep us entertained on the road.
We were finally able to agree on this one and it was 16 hours long.
We have one disc left to listen to!

Wednesday August 5th

Today we went to Needville, Tx for a marriage enrichment training.
On the way there we got to see parts of the countryside we had never seen.

We kept seeing these cool birds grazing in the fields.
I was hoping to take a good enough picture to identify them in the bird book.

Bring Christ your broken life

The ladies of the Kerrville Church of Christ made this cross out of broken things.
It represents how God takes the broken and makes them something beautiful.

One of the things Aunt Marilyn included was this shoe.
She found it out at our ranch in New Mexico.
It was probably worn by my dad and other siblings.

I spent a lot of time this weekend thinking about my family history;
Thinking about my Grandma.
That God is at work in all the threads of our story is baffling and encouraging at the same time.

May I continue to yield to his breaking and making.

This weekend we took a trip to celebrate our anniversary.
We went to stay with Aunt Marilyn and Uncle John in Kerrville.
This was definitely a time of renewal and reconnecting that we both needed.

Wednesday July 29th

Jeremy and I have been working our way through the 4th season of Deadliest Catch.
In between each disc is a girly movie for me (since I'm home a lot).
Somehow, as we were waiting for the last disc of the season,
two movies came for me...
Needless to say, Jeremy was very disappointed.
I watched both movies today so that when we get back from our trip, Deadliest Catch will be waiting for us.

We had watched the first one last week.
We decided to skip the second one because Kendal says it isn't very good.
