Mourning a loss

Tuesday November 3rd

While it's nice to find beautify where you least expect it,
crossing this industry ridden ship channel every day
makes me sad for all the nature lost.
The San Jacinto monument rising in the background
only serves to remind that this land used to be so forested
that the Texas army could sneak up on Santa Anna.

It is hard to imagine what it looked like all those years ago. When you get closer and are in the park it is a little easier. I'm just glad the monument is there and we haven't totally forgotten what happened there so long ago.
